Al Azra belongs to the Al Riqa suburb, which also includes Al Falaj, Al Ghafia, Al Jazzat, Al Sabkha and Al Hazzanah; since May 2025 the suburb has had its own council, formed by the Ruler of Sharjah.

Al Azra's school cluster

Several private schools are clustered on Al Azra's northern side, including Beaconhouse Al Khaleej International School, Modern American International School, ASPAM Indian International School, Springdale Indian School and School of Knowledge, founded in 1990 and teaching the British curriculum.

In December 2014 the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority completed a AED 4 million project paving 2.5 km of roads around the school complex, after parents complained about unpaved roads.

So Al Azra suits families who want to live close to their children's schools; we suggest visiting at school drop-off or pick-up time to see the traffic for yourself.
